SAP Plant Maintenance (SAP PM) manages all maintenance activities in an organization. Plant Maintenance module consists of key activities to include inspection, notifications, corrective and preventive maintenance, repairs, and other measures to maintain an ideal technical system
Key Futures and functions
Maintenance requests include requests for minor repairs and new installations that do not involve equipment breakdown or production downtime. These activities can be planned, scheduled and are not emergency in nature.
Preventive / Planned Maintenance
Preventive maintenance is planned maintenance, planning in advance and in regular intervals to reduce the break downs and for good health condition of the Equipment. Maintenance activities are planned and carried out at a pre-defined schedule (time-based) or performance-based (like run-hours).This helps in reducing the operating cost of the Equipment.
Emergency / Demand Maintenance
Maintenance the request includes a request for Major repairs or break down on the Equipment, a malfunction at an object that affects its performance or that the system is not functioning at all, which in turn have production downtime or poor production quality. Breakdown Maintenance carried out to restore the technical objects to its operating condition.
Process is servicing of defective spares to bring it to a Workable condition. Refurbished spare parts are parts that can be repaired either internally or sent out to be repaired by an external vendor. The parts are then placed back into inventory for future use. This process is necessary for parts that are no longer commercially available and for parts that can be overhauled and re-used at a fraction of the price of a new item.
Projects / Construction / Capital Maintenance:
Capital Maintenance is mainly focused at such investment measures which once done would generate revenues for a longer period of time. System Creates an Asset Under Construction (AUC). Work identification refers to the process of identifying maintenance work and communicating the required maintenance work. We can settle it to an Asset or FI Internal Order(AuC) or WBS Element (If you are using project Systems)
Spare & Service Management Process
Purchasing initiation: Spare and service purchase will be initiated based on the maintenance spare/external service requirement. All spare and service purchases will be routed through maintenance orders. Purchase requisition will be created automatically from all preventive/corrective/breakdown maintenance processes for all spare/service purchases. All spare to be used will be assigned in the component list of maintenance orders with item Category as N (non-stock). All External service hiring will be maintained as an external task in the operation list with an external control key PM03. PR will be created for all external service and spare purchases when the maintenance order is released and saved.
